John's Window

John was a Wickersham Brother (a singing, dancing monkey) in the Community Theatre's production of Seussical. And as you can see, he's also a super talented artist. He painted this beautiful window for the Arts Council this week. Thanks John!

His name is Puddles

That's what he told me. Gotta keep an eye out heading home after it's rained. They like the puddles in my drive.

Millers and Skeeters

This miller (aka moth), Grandpa called them millers, landed on my book while I was reading in bed. I transferred him to my hand and continued to read while he politely waited for me (even when I went to get the camera) to take him outside. Later in the week I freed a granddaddy mosquito from my house. They don't bite but eat the ones that do, or so I've been told. I trapped him in a Coca-Cola cup. I tried to catch him with my hands first. I tried for a long time cause I liked how he felt fluttering against my palms.

Lucky Farm Girl

Many beautiful days growing up on Grandpa's farm. When you're picking daisies and the grass is high in the pastures, it's easy to miss the cow pies. Makes for a good opportunity to jump in the creek, shoes and all.

Tree of Clutter

There's a coat closet behind that tree and some shoes and snow boots and sweatshirts and a yoga mat and my vintage dresses and probably a sneaky cat.

Just what I needed.....

another bag. Front and back views or back and front, whatever. Big Happy Flowers might help me make it to yoga class.

Almost Home

Sophie and Johnny Cash spent the last 3 days at their grandparents rolling around in the dirt. It's good to be together again and bathed. My nose and my heart are happy.

Pardon-moi, and pardon my French. I haven't been schooled since the early 90s.

Basket Case

It took 5 women 3 days to complete these baskets. First time weaving for 3 of us, and we are all so tickled with the results. They're so pretty (& awesome!) I can't stop looking at them!

Fun with Yoga (& Sophie)

The purple mat comes out, and it's time to play. Meditation is impossible once she gets a hold of a squeaky toy.

Food as Art

It's a tart! Okay, maybe it's not the most artistic tart ever created. I can still be a proud mama. Food is my favorite medium, and it tastes much better than pastels.

Picture Window

I took this photo yesterday afternoon before the storm. I love the light and color. The sky was dark, and the trees were a brilliant green. The window looked like a painting. Tejean spends many hours enjoying the view, but she had obviously had enough of it by this point.

Student Art

Fridays are slow and easy, lots of time to play catch-up. I don't receive many phone calls or emails. Folks do pop into the gallery to see the exhibit. Lots of visitors on Fridays. This month's exhibition is artwork by the junior high school students. The student shows are my favorite. I like seeing the diversity in mediums and perspectives from so many talented artists.

-I took these photos at yesterday afternoon's opening reception. I appreciate everyone who came out to support our future artists. Charcoal Portrait and Beach Scene by Sean Anderson, Butterfly by Stephanie Gallion, Self Portrait by Michael Mashburn, Sunflower by Nathan Farr
